On May 11, a 25-year-old mother of three from Missouri made her dreams come true. Hannah Harper was officially crowned the winner of American Idol season 24, wrapping up a season that was packed with stunning performances and heartfelt moments. She went head-to-head with Jordan McCullough, who took the runner-up spot, and Keyla Richardson, who finished in third place.

A Finale Filled With Emotion

The three-hour live finale aired on Monday, May 11. The Top 3 contestants each performed two songs before the first elimination of the night. Keyla was voted off in third place, leaving Hannah and Jordan to compete for the coveted title.

Once the final votes were tallied, host Ryan Seacrest announced Hannah as the winner. She was completely overwhelmed with emotion. For her coronation song, she delivered an encore performance of "At The Cross (Love Ran Red)" by Chris Tomlin, but she could hardly get the words out. Tears streamed down her face as her fellow contestants joined her on stage.

The Audition That Started It All

Hannah's journey to the finale was nothing short of remarkable right from the very first episode. During her audition, she shared an original song called "String Cheese," which delved into her personal battle with postpartum depression following the birth of her third child.
Her heartfelt performance brought judge Carrie Underwood to tears. Underwood, who herself won season 4 of American Idol, told Hannah, "That's about the most relatable song I think I've ever heard. You might be my favorite person that's walked through those doors."

A Musical Upbringing on the Road

Hannah Harper grew up in Willow Springs, Missouri, in a family that was all about music. She was part of her family's bluegrass gospel band. When her dad decided to leave his job at the lead mine to chase his musical dreams, the whole family packed up and moved into a bright red, 40-foot-long tour bus. They spent seven years traveling and making music together. In 2016, she returned to Missouri, started her own family, and eventually found her way back to music.

A Season of Standout Performances

Throughout the competition, Hannah wowed everyone with one unforgettable performance after another:

· Hollywood Week in Nashville: She sang Lee Ann Womack's "A Little Past Little Rock."

· The Ohana Round in Hawaii: She dedicated her rendition of Vince Gill's "Go Rest High On That Mountain" to her late grandfather, who had played music until his last day.

· Top 20: She stepped out of her comfort zone, leaving her guitar behind for the first time to perform "Ain't No Grave."

· Top 12: She delivered a deeply emotional version of "At the Cross (Love Ran Red)" by Chris Tomlin.

The Full Circle Moment

For her final competitive performance of the night, Hannah made a daring choice. She decided to bring back the very song that kicked off her journey: "String Cheese." It was a full circle moment for the stay-at-home mom who had come such a long way.

Hannah also got the opportunity to perform a heartfelt duet of the beloved hit "I Hope You Dance" alongside Lee Ann Womack, the original artist of the song she had covered during Hollywood Week.

A Victory for the Relatable Storyteller

Hannah Harper's victory is a shining example of the strength of being genuine. She stood out in a sea of talent not just because of her impressive voice, but by openly sharing her struggles and her faith with heartfelt honesty. Viewers resonated with her journey, from a low point on her couch to the dazzling lights of the Idol stage. She showed that sometimes, the most impactful stories emerge from the simplest moments—like opening a pack of string cheese for a determined child.
